During the summer of 2000, Pierre Parent had a cottage in Cap-aux-Os, Gaspésie, when Christine Maurin, one of her clients of French origin, fell in love with both Quebec and the host! After having lived the first years of their love affair in France, Christine and Pierre will decide to continue their hotel experience together and will choose to try the adventure in Quebec.

Thus they discover a friendly bicentennial house, nestled in the heart of the village of Frelighsburg, along the Pike River. Seduced by the romanticism of the place, they settled there in April 2008. No doubt inspired by both the ocean wave that once separated the French and the Québécois and by the one who runs at the foot of their little inn, they baptized their cottage at the Chant de l’Onde.

As evidenced by the beautiful loom and the paintings that adorn the entrance and walls of the establishment, our innkeepers have several artistic strings to their bow. In a previous life they were members of a troupe Charentaise folk dance and, more recently, they were part of the choir of the Choir des Armand.

Upon entry, the lounge of the cottage still resonates with political discussions of Pierre, former councilor, as well as ¡Holà! ¿Qué tal ? that exchanged students enrolled in Spanish classes taught by Christine, a profession she has held in France for 22 years.

The decoration of the three rooms is inspired by the couple’s many trips to North Africa, Latin America and Lapland. Each is adorned with thematic paintings painted by Peter.
